Dear Prime Minister,
On behalf of the twenty third asylum seeker, Mr XXX XXX from XXX, and his fellow detainees on Manus Island and Nauru I remind you of the increasing number of people demanding the end of offshore detention.
"At some point Australia is going to have to take a moral course." - Allan Behm, former diplomat and senior officer in the international policy and strategy division of defence.
"... Australia has lost its moral compass..." - David Shearer, New Zealand’s Labour opposition spokesperson on foreign affairs.
"to stand by makes us complicit in these acts of unbearable cruelty." - Arja Keski-Nummi, former first assistant secretary in the international and refugee division of the immigration department.
Meanwhile Minister Dutton has been shown for the second time to have made false allegations in an attempt to deny evidence of abuse. Will you replace Minister Dutton with someone competent to oversee the immediate relocation of the offshore detainees to Australia? Are you able to be motivated to take a moral course of action?
