Blog: Dear Prime Minister

On July 30 2016 I started writing letters to the Prime Minister of Australia to protest against the imprisonment and torture of the asylum seekers in the offshore detention centres of Manus Island and Nauru. I started with the intention of writing a letter a day for every person in detention until they are all freed. There are more than 1800 asylum seekers in off shore detention. These are those letters and any response from Mr Turnbull.

DIBP's contempt of parliament

Dear Prime Minister,

Given the huge amount of money DIBP spends and the reach of its power it is frightening that it treated parliament with contempt by refusing to provide information to the Senate inquiry into offshore detention of refugees. We have a department with power over many thousands of peoples lives, interfering with the sovereignty of two other countries and it acts in secrecy.

When will you hold Minister Dutton and the DIBP to account? Australia's immigration and refugee policies must be remade, for fairness, justice and transparency.
